The Power of Letting Go

By Klaus Crow 8 Comments

The Power Of Letting GoTime is a precious thing, and for most of us, it often slips through our fingers because of the busyness of everyday life.

We all have to deal with obligations and commitments, but we also set goals for ourselves. I don’t even mean big goals, but the little goals we want to accomplish that are part of the big goals, or just the everyday tasks we want to get done.

A big part of the stress of everyday life comes from those small goals or tasks. You set goals in your mind, your write them down on your calendar, and expect to finish them by the end the day or week. Then, if something else comes up and disturbs the progress of those tasks you can get annoyed, anxious, grumpy or even angry.

You get stressed out of something you have put on yourself and lost sight of the bigger picture. You have stopped putting things in perspective.

When you start putting those tasks and difficulties in the grand scheme of things you will come to realize it won’t hurt you, it won’t even touch you. The only hurt happens inside of your head, but not in real life. You’ve planted this seed, this time limitation, deadline or problem inside of your mind and turned it into a huge obstacle.

But you know what, there is always tomorrow. There really is. And next week and the week after that. It can actually be done later. And if you really think about it, sometimes you can even not do it at all. Continue Reading

The Greatness of The 30 Day Experiment

By Klaus Crow 5 Comments

30 Day ExperimentFor some years now I’ve been putting myself to the test with the 30 Day habit experiment. It means you can create any new habit, or get rid of bad ones in 30 days, to improve yourself and increase your health and quality of life.

For me, it started with getting rid of sugar in my tea for 30 days. Then 30 days without sugar in my coffee. Now I cannot imagine putting any sugar in my tea and coffee anymore. Ulghh!

Then I started a 30 day Waking up early experiment. And that completely changed my life. There was so much I could do with that extra time it was awesome. These days I wake up early four or five times a week.

2 years ago I started to get migraine attacks. The rate of pain was 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. That pretty sucked. I tried a couple of things like reducing the time behind the computer, wearing my glasses continuously and getting enough sleep, but with no effect.

So I underwent dry needling therapy which reduced the migraine to 5 on a scale of 1 – 10, but it did not go away entirely. Then I started reading about migraine triggers and decided to stop with wine and chocolate completely for 30 days in a row. I also drank 2 glasses of water every day in that same period of time. The result was that the rate of pain went down to 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.

So I continued with another 30 days without wine and chocolate and drinking two glasses of water. The migraine attacks were gone entirely. A milestone in my 30 day experiments. ๐Ÿ™‚

To keep motivated and focused on my 30 day goals, I have a calendar an put an X on each day I continue the habit. After a while I’ll have chain of X’s that grows longer with each day. Keeping the chain intact without breaking it for 30 days in a row will motivate me. The longer the chain, the more confident you get.

How To Reach Your Goals With Less is More

By Klaus Crow 3 Comments

How To Reach Your Goals With Less is MoreWhen people start out chasing their dreams, most of them do it passionately and full of motivation, at least for a while, but often when the first thrill of excitement is waning and things get hard the motivation drops. At that point there are people who give up and there are people who push through and get things done.

The latter are willing to achieve their goal no matter what. They seem to become the successful and happy people, but as usual nothing is what it seems. Because a lot of those people become hooked to the productivity of success and vice versa.

They get absorbed and swallowed by the need for being productive. Productivity becomes number one on their list and everything else second. And “second” often means it doesn’t get on the list at all, because productivity always keeps calling first.

The problem is that productivity never stops. If you reached your goal there will always be a next goal, and a next, and a next. Life changes and you’re wishes for where you want to be, what you want to get done, and what you want to achieve will always carry on.

The tricky and often unnoticed part is that life doesn’t wait for you. It just slips by. Before you know it you’ll be 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70. And have you then really enjoyed life to the fullest?

Have you made sure you that you took some time to relax, and listen to the birds sing, enjoyed a conversation with your kids, your partner and friends each and every day?

Have you enjoyed running, cycling, yoga or working out? Meditating in silence, playing guitar or piano? Did you take the time to do some of those things each week? Or have you been mainly productive to achieve more financial success each and everyday?

Of course, money is important to a certain degree. You need to be able to support yourself and your family. Some luxury is nice and not necessarily a bad thing, but when making money for luxury gets in the way of living fully and appreciating the little things in life each and every day, you are letting life slip through your fingers.

You keep thinking you’re doing it to secure your future, but you’ll never reach your future. It’s always ahead, and it will always feel that way. At the same time your future is passing you by as you keep being productive. More of your future will be left behind in the past and you can’t retrieve it.

So how do you reach your goals without becoming a slave of productivity while keep enjoying the good things in life?

How to Not Lose Your Patience

How to not lose your patienceWe all get impatient from time to time. We have to deal with circumstances that are out of our control. And that feeling of wanting to be in control causes our impatience.

We want things to go our way. We need it to be like this or otherwise we can’t do that. We need to be in time and get it done. Others need to listen, hurry up and act properly as we expect.

All those things would not even be an issue if we’d learn to slow down instead of speeding up. But let’s assume you haven’t learned this lesson yet and you want to learn how not to lose your patience. What can you do? How can you make life easier for yourself and your environment?

Let’s take a closer look.Continue Reading
