What Do You Do, When You Don’t Want to Do it?

What-do-you-do,-when-you-don't-want-to-do-itLike most people I have trouble making myself do things I don’t want to do. Sounds reasonable right?

The problem is that most of the things you often don’t want to do are the things that should be on top of your priority list. Exercise, maintaining a healthy diet (stop eating unhealthy foods), meditation (cultivating the mind), and working on your most important projects are all crucial to your overall happiness and quality of life.

When you start out with exercising or eating healthy you’re all fired up and everything is great and good for you, but after a while you start to lose the thrill and excitement you first had in the beginning.

The inspiring and motivating thoughts you had are now fading away. Things get hard, and most people start to procrastinate and often quit very soon after that.

Most of the reasons of procrastination and quitting is that you often don’t “feel” like doing it. It can be hard, unpleasant, tiring, or an underlying reason might be that you’re afraid to fail. Fail to accomplish the end result you have in mind.

Your mind is a master in making up all kinds of excuses to get out it. Your mind knows your weak spots and will use it whenever it sees an opportunity. So you have to choose. Will you let your mind master you or will you master your mind?

This is the moment where everything depends upon. What do you do after the motivation drops and things get tough, when you don’t want to start, you don’t want to get up, and you rather do something else instead?

What do you, if you really don’t want to do it?

DO IT ANYWAY!
DO IT ANYWAY!
DO IT ANYWAY!

Stop thinking about how you are feeling.
Stop thinking about what you rather want to do.
Stop thinking of any more excuses.

Stop overthinking and just do it anyway! 

Start exercising!

Don’t think of how, when, or where. Don’t think about what gear you should have, or what you need to wear. Just start here and now! Just do something. THINK LATER. Think of your next exercise while you are doing it, instead of beforehand. Don’t want to do it? Do it anyway.

Eat healthy, instead of junk!

If there’s junkfood in front of you, turn away, drink water instead, and take some of the healthy foods you always bring along with you in your small backpack wherever you go. Be proud of yourself that you stick with it. Don’t feel like eating healthy tonight? Feel it anyway!

Meditate!

Sit down for 10 minutes. Just sit. Close your eyes. Follow your breath. Thoughts that arise, let them pass, let them go gently, and turn your focus back to your breath. You don’t have to resist thoughts, just let them pass quietly like clouds in the sky. You can think all day, now is the time to quiet the mind and let peace of mind take over. Don’t think meditation is gonna work for you? Do it anyway. You’ll benefit from it.

Start writing, reading, fixing, do the important task!

Don’t think ahead. Don’t think of how, when or where, Just start! Only think about it when you’re at it. Now go. go!

Do the hard things NOW to improve your health, attain a high energy level, develop peace of mind, get things done, feel ridiculously awesome everyday and it will bring you an abundance of happiness and fulfilment in your life.

    Love this post! I started exercising right away, and got up early this morning to get some work done. I really helps me seize the day.
