Being fully conscious is being truly alive. When you are fully conscious you are aware of what is happening right now at this very moment. Not in your mind, but in real life.
You truly see the trees as you’re walking by, you truly hear the birds chirping in the trees, you truly see the sun burning brightly and fully alive in the sky, you truly listen to your kids when they tell you something that is important to them, you truly taste the flavors and texture of your food, and you truly feel your breath moving in and out of your body.
Being fully conscious means you are not living inside of your mind. You are not thinking about tomorrow, or a week from now, or even just 5 minutes from now, lingering in your own predictions and assumptions.
You are not thinking about yesterday, a week ago, or even 5 minutes ago, recollecting, regretting and feeling miserable about past mistakes or past failures. It would be a waste of this very precious present moment.
You are not even THINKING about what you are seeing, feeling, hearing, tasting or smelling NOW. Your mind will connect the dots so incredibly fast to a previous or future event just as you see or hear something right at this very moment.
It happens in a split second and before you know it you are already up in your mind, lost and jumping from one thought into another. You stepped out of real life and went back into your memory and imagination.
Only when you focus your attention on what is NOW, and not a second earlier or later, you are truly experiencing life. Just observe.
Everything else is just the theater playing inside of your mind. And no matter how good or bad that theater play is, it’s still an accumulation of thoughts popping up in your mind with or without your will, and often without you realizing it.
The only way to take charge of this, is to keep taking your attention back to what is here NOW. Again and again and again. If you practice this consistently every single day you will gain a huge amount of control over your mind, thoughts, emotions, and the time you spend being fully conscious and truly alive.
Instead of being CAUGHT up in your mind, you will feel FREE.
Every minute you spend in your mind, you are missing out on life as it truly exists. And this moment will never ever come back. So appreciate and treasure “NOW” as much as you can before REAL LIFE passes you by without you knowing it.
Now ENJOY what it means to be truly alive!

Klaus this has really opened my eyes.
I got to be more conscious, though its hard living in the city.
Thanks for the post.
Manuel
Hi Manuel,
You can be conscious everywhere. Focus on things one at a time and try to keep your attention towards it as long as possible, look, hear, feel, touch, and taste with true interest.
Observe and enjoy, and leave out any thoughts about it.
Go to the park now and then, to open up and become more sensitive to your surroundings and what it means to be truly alive.
Another great post Klaus. I was definitely not aware how much my mind is occupied with negative thoughts without me even realising it. Thanks for pointing it out with such clarity. I will be more conscious from now on.
Hi Nick,
The mind is a tricky place. Thoughts just sneak upon you, but you can absolutely control your thoughts. You only have to be aware of them. The more you practice being conscious the more you will attain freedom and enjoy life to its fullest.
Something was on my mind this morning yet, I couldn’t figure it out. Then this post came up on my page. I had realized my mind was traveling all over the place. You opened my eyes to look at what is in front of me NOW , not yesterday, not tomorrow. Thank you.
Hi Daniel,
It’s a perfect start of the day to remind yourself to be conscious the moment you wake up. Put a reminder on your nightstand or on your mobile phone to remind yourself to get out of your mind and be here with your full attention. Practice this every morning and you will experience blissfulness more and more.
